Preservation Technology Tour – August 7

How do we preserve the oldest plantation house in America open to the public?  We want to share our approach with you!

During our Preservation Technology Tour, professional guides introduce visitors to current and past preservation efforts at Drayton Hall.   Rarely seen in such depth, participants will tour the house and enter areas normally closed to visitors in order to gain a better understanding of and appreciation for the technical aspects of the site’s design, construction, and preservation. This program is designed for those with an interest in architecture, history, and preservation.  Drayton Hall is proud to be the only authentic survivor of the Ashley River’s colonial past.  Thanks in large part to the efforts of the Drayton family, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and concerned staff, Drayton Hall is intact and in near-original condition.
