Are bands allowed and are there noise restrictions?
A good band is one of the keys to a great reception. In order to keep the preservation of the property at the forefront of everyone's minds, all bands must read and abide by the procedures governing special use of the property and can perform no later than 2:00 a.m.
Can the main house be opened for guests to tour?
With Drayton Hall as the backdrop for your ceremony or reception, why not offer your guests the chance to see what makes Drayton Hall so renowned? Many of our brides choose to offer house tours during cocktail hour as a special treat. Informal house tours are available for your guests at the reduced rate of $5.00 per person.
Is there an indoor facility available for use by the bridal party on the day of the event?
You and your bridal party may use the Kennedy Library for the day for a flat fee of $350.
Do you provide lighting for the house and grounds?
Drayton Hall provides torch lighting to the house or river. If you are interested in having the house spotlighted or in additional lighting, we encourage you to contact one of our preferred vendors.
Do you permit fireworks or sparklers on the premises? How about animals?
All special effects involving fire, smoke, explosives, and the breaking of glass-including fireworks and sparklers-present a danger to the property and are prohibited. No animals may be allowed on the property without written permission.
Do you have to use the vendors on the preferred vendors list?
While we don't require you to use the vendors included on our list, we encourage you to contact them as you begin to plan your event. What makes these vendors so special is that they have experience at Drayton Hall and have met a set of requirements for all on-site special events.

Weddings

A setting unlike any other

Imagine a place where stories are told in weathered bricks, grand vistas, and aged oak trees…where the sun sets on a Victorian reflecting pond and stars take their place above an architectural masterpiece…a site that's seen three centuries of American history…where the Ashley River murmurs nearby and musical notes roll across the lush green lawn.

After the site is closed to the general public, Drayton Hall opens its gates for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The historic house at Drayton Hall (c. 1738) provides the ultimate backdrop for an event you will remember forever.

Because of its special preserved condition, Drayton Hall can host just 12 weddings a year. Whether you are planning an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, we can work with you and your event planner to accommodate your wishes.

Reserving a Date

Because of the site's unique state of preservation, we can only host 12 weddings each year-a fact that will make your wedding even more special.

We encourage you to book early, especially if you are considering months in the spring and fall, as we host a number of other special events throughout the year.

To learn more or to reserve a date, please contact Natalie Baker by phone, 843-769-2638, or by email at natalie_titcomb@draytonhall.org.

Because of the site's limited availability, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of your reservation. We will gladly apply that deposit to your overall rental fee.

Preferred Vendors

We want your event to exceed your expectations in every way possible, and we want your guests to walk away in awe. To assist you with your planning, we recommend talking to a select group of event planners, caterers, rental companies, and photographers who have years of experience with events at Drayton Hall.

Insurance

As a National Historic Landmark and National Trust Historic Site, we are required to have a certificate of insurance, naming Drayton Hall as the additional insured in advance of your event. Your event planner will typically provide this during the planning process.
