Labor on the Landscape

Join us at Drayton Hall in Charleston, SC for a Landscape Walking Tour on February 25, 2023 at 10am.

For well over a century, the skill and diligence of enslaved laborers across Drayton Hall’s landscape created both important social spaces for the Draytons and critical work areas where enslaved people worked to maintain the Draytons’ ways of life. This guided landscape walk with curator Amber Satterthwaite will use historic documents, photographs, and archaeology to investigate the unique lives of enslaved individuals and the crucial labor they performed on the landscape.
